Expression of interest - ITE Lead at Association for Physical Education

The Association for Physical Education is seeking to appoint an Initial Teacher Training Lead who will play a central role in shaping and coordinating our work with ITE providers across the country. This position will guide afPE’s engagement with partners, support the development of high-quality training pathways, and help ensure that the next generation of physical education teachers is equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and professional standards our sector deserves. This is an opportunity to influence national practice, collaborate with a wide network of educators, and champion excellence at the very foundation of teacher preparation.

Responsibilities to include;

• Working with the CEO of afPE to coordinate termly ITE sector engagement events
• To work with afPE administration team to provide free student portal access
• To ensure the voice of ITE is being heard through afPE
• To establish and maintain a teacher education network, disseminating relevant developments, opportunities and initiatives through bi-monthly newsletters
• Provide opportunities for the afPE ITE network to critically discuss current initiatives and policy developments; sharing of practice/knowledge exchange (Connect Days, ITE conference strand); professional development of ITE workforce
• Develop strategic partnerships including UCET and NASBTT, representing the ITE interests of afPE
• Develop relationships with international groups/bodies that also focus on ITE
• Develop strategic partnership with the Ofsted ITE inspection team
• Maintain an afPE ITE website section with resources and policy documents
• Highlight, support, and nurture opportunities to conduct research amongst the ITE network
• Coordinate afPE national ITE projects, e.g. recruitment to the profession, diversifying the workforce, etc.
• Implement afPE corporate objectives, EDI strategy, etc. throughout ITE network
  

It is estimated that the role will be approximately 12 days a year, paid at a day rate.
