Using dance to support learning across the
curriculum.
This film aims to:
- Support non-specialist primary teachers to deliver high quality dance lessons
- Use dance as a catalyst for learning within a cross curricular framework
- Show how a child-led approach to learning can enthuse and motivate
- Illustrate how a school can work alongside professional artists
This film contains:
- Evidence of the process of starting with an initial theme and developing it through to a final dance performance
- Evidence of how three classes (one Year 4 and two Year 3) developed the theme in original ways
- Evidence of children engaged in cross curricular work (particularly literacy) relating to their dance
- Evidence of children creating an environment in their classrooms supported by a visiting vial artist
- A year 4 dance lesson, midway through the project, showing one way of developing performance, composition and appreciation
- The dress rehearsal and final performance
