Using dance to support learning across the curriculum.

This film aims to:

• Support non-specialist primary teachers to deliver high quality dance lessons
• Use dance as a catalyst for learning within a cross curricular framework
• Show how a child-led approach to learning can enthuse and motivate
• Illustrate how a school can work alongside professional artists

This film contains:

• Evidence of the process of starting with an initial theme and developing it through to a final dance performance
• Evidence of how three classes (one Year 4 and two Year 3) developed the theme in original ways
• Evidence of children engaged in cross curricular work (particularly literacy) relating to their dance
• Evidence of children creating an environment in their classrooms supported by a visiting vial artist
• A year 4 dance lesson, midway through the project, showing one way of developing performance, composition and appreciation
• The dress rehearsal and final performance
