Our accreditation process is divided into two pathways: Approved Curriculum Resources and Approved Professional Development Providers.

The Approved Curriculum Resource (ACR) accreditation recognises educational materials that support the delivery of high-quality physical education. Whether you are publishing schemes of work, lesson plans, or assessment tools, afPE’s ACR ensures that your resource is aligned with national guidance and best practice.

Eligibility
Open to organisations, publishers, and individuals offering PE-related teaching and learning resources.

Quality Assurance Process
Submissions are processed and reviewed by a panel of experts against a set of quality benchmarks, including curriculum alignment, inclusivity, impact, and evidence-informed practice.

Recognition
Approved resources receive afPE’s ACR logo and will be promoted as afPE-accredited materials.

Approved Professional Development Providers

For organisations delivering professional development in PE:

Overview
The Approved Professional Development Providers (APDP) accreditation is awarded to organisations and individuals who offer high-quality Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in physical education. APDP helps schools and educators identify CPD opportunities that genuinely support subject knowledge, pedagogy, and whole school improvement.

Purpose & Benefits

  • Recognises CPD that meets afPE’s standards for relevance, delivery, and impact.

  • Builds trust among schools, teachers, and leaders choosing professional learning.

  • Provides visibility and endorsement via afPE’s official APDP Mark.

Eligibility
Open to organisations, training providers, and consultants delivering PE-specific CPD across the UK.

Quality Assurance Process
All CPD provision is reviewed by afPE’s Professional Development Board against standards including structure, delivery methods, trainer expertise, evaluation mechanisms, and alignment with sector priorities.

Recognition
Successful applicants receive the APDP logo and are listed as afPE-accredited CPD providers.
