Welcome to afPE’s ITE Network
Discover How We are Shaping the Future of Physical Education
At the Association for Physical Education (afPE), we are committed to transforming Physical Education by championing and supporting the next generation of Physical Education teachers. We are building a community that will support teachers from the moment they decide to become a teacher and throughout their career. The ITE Network will develop dynamic collaboration with Initial Teacher Education (ITE) providers.

Our Vison and Values
PEITE is a fundamental pillar of afPE’s core work. Our ITE strategy sets out three areas of development for 2026-2029, led by the ITE leadership team.
Expand the Reach
Develop the Workforce
Lead the Way
afPE's ITE leadership team will support and empower Physical Education student teachers to be inquisitive, reflective and critical to ensure that all children and young people have access to socially just and inclusive Physical Education experiences.
afPE's ITE network will contribute to future-shaping Physical Education practices utilising evidence informed approaches that promote;
strong subject and pedagogical knowledge
curriculum coherence and alignment
effective use of assessment and responsive teaching
supportive and inclusive practices for all learners
continuous professional development for teacher educators.
afPE’s vision for Physical Education Initial Teacher Education (PEITE), embeds the Association’s core values:
Professionalism
Integrity
Collaboration
Quality
Inclusion
These values inform our decisions and help us to build stronger partnerships that are working to support PEITE.
