Use a scarf or a bean bag to begin with and then progress to a textured ball, followed by a tennis ball. We are looking for control and coordination with the throwing and catching.
The ball should be bounced from chest height with two hands, sent in the right direction and with control and stability.
Leg wide at right angles, can children move the ball around their body and under legs in one direction and then the other.
Use a wall or a bench turned on its side. Children need to practice sending and receiving with two hands and with each hand separately.

Kneeling side to side

Kneeling

Children need to keep their head on the floor and knees at right angles, they need to lift up their body to form a bridge and hold this for 10 seconds.
Children need to start kneeling on the floor and lift one leg forward to a right angle and the other one bent at a right angle. Repeat on the other side.
Children need to begin with kneeling in a forward position and then switch their hips over to one side and then the other.
Here the children begin kneeling and then push their hips up and forward to stay in an upright position for 10 seconds.

Rolling

Children are stretched with arms and legs out as far as they can and they need to roll over onto their tummies and return to their backs. They need to do this a number of times, keeping their body in a tight position.
Children need to begin sat on the floor, then lift their hips up to an upright position and maintain that stable position.
Ask children to lay on their backs and stretch with their arms above their heads and toes points – try to make themselves as long as possible and hold for 10 seconds.
