For schools to provide two hours of physical education and sport, in curriculum time, has been on the agenda for many years. In fact as far back as November 1995 when ‘Sport, Raising the Game’ was published two hours was strongly advocated. This recommendation continued throughout, and beyond the PESSYP strategy.

In 2014 when the current national curriculum was published it was agreed that two hours was the time required to deliver the aims and programmes of study.

We have developed a new resource in order to answer some of your questions and hope that it puts everything into context for you.

Those schools that place transformative PE at the heart of the curriculum know that the impact on young people is quite remarkable.
