Embed the Pathway for Secondary Schools – Upskilling PE staff to be able to deliver Rugby League

Free professional learning aimed at upskilling PE staff to be able to deliver Rugby League in their school Embed The Pathway for Schools is an open and inclusive programme that forms then first step on the England Rugby League Talent Pathway. The game of rugby league believes that talent comes from anywhere, and it is essential that new and existing schools deliver the game and provide playing opportunities, with exit routes for talented and enthusiastic players. England RL and Sky Try have combined to make this free opportunity available to Secondary Schools PE Staff. For many PE teachers the hurdle to be overcome is the sport specific knowledge, so Embed the Pathway is designed with that in mind. It is a Key Stage 3 Scheme of Work, supported by a CPD opportunity, and underpinned by playing opportunity and an open access development day, where young people can receive expert coaching, profiling and signposted to the most relevant next step. It provides 24 lessons in a 3 x 8 week Units of Work (One each for Years 7, 8 and 9) that hits 4 keys development needs for the young player. Game Sense, Movement Skills, Coachability and Mental Skills. As a school or a teacher you can become engaged by visiting the website www.embedthepathway.co.uk, booking on to the CPD blocks and finally completing the online accreditation application for your school. By taking part, your school becomes an England Rugby League Development School. This is open to every school regardless of number of size or location that delivers ETP at Key Stage 3 as part of their teaching curriculum.
