afPE is delighted that the Department for Education has published guidance on the ‘Standard for teachers’ professional development’.

afPE firmly believes that teachers and the wider workforce should have access to the very best professional learning opportunities to ensure that they have the knowledge, skills and understanding to support them in their role in schools. ‘Teaching is the profession that creates all other professions’ and children and young people deserve the very best teachers, but teachers also deserve to have access to professional development opportunities that will enhance them on their learning journey.

This guidance is for school leaders, teachers, and organisations that offer professional development for teachers.
