One Dance UK: Dance Teaching Awards – Nominations now open

13/02/17 One Dance UK is accepting nominations for the newly-launched One Dance UK Dance Teaching Awards. The One Dance UK Dance Teaching Awards have been designed with nine separate categories to reward and celebrate as many different types of teaching excellence as possible. Nominations are now open and the closing date is Friday 19 May 2017 at 5pm. Anyone can make a nomination based on their knowledge of the nominee. Shortlisted nominees will be invited to attend the awards ceremony at a glittering afternoon tea at the Birmingham Hippodrome on Sunday 16 July – the final day of U.Dance 2017, the national youth dance festival produced by One Dance UK. The nine award categories are as follows: - Lifetime Achievement Award – for people who have been teaching dance or creating opportunities for children and young people to dance, for 20 years or more.
- Rising Star Award – for people teaching dance across the genres and in any environment, who have graduated in the past three years and whose impact is already being felt.
- Above and Beyond Award – for people who go ‘the extra mile’ to enrich dance experience or practice, or support their students to surpass expectations.
- Outstanding Primary Dance Teaching Award – for primary school teachers who show exceptional talent in teaching dance, embedding dance in their schools, and building a love of dance within their pupils.
- Outstanding Secondary Dance Teaching Award – for secondary school teachers who go above-and-beyond to ensure their pupils receive the best possible dance provision, in challenging times.
- Inspirational Lecturer at College, University or Conservatoire – for dedicated Higher Education practitioners who inspire the next generation of performers, choreographers, teachers and practitioners, to develop their skills.
- Inspirational Work in Education Award – for the staff of dance organisations that show passion in their championing of dance education, learning and participation.
- Inspirational Community Dance Practitioner Award – for individuals working in communities who inspire children and young people, building a love of dance and creative dance practice.
- Most Supportive Senior Leader or Governor Award – for individuals, teams or Boards who have helped dance flourish within their school curriculum trough their drive and provision of resources.
