Statement regarding afPE and the General Election outcomes
08 June 2017
08/06/17 afPE outlines to the incoming Government its commitment to promote Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity as a process that must be integral to all schools. Please find a statement below from Sue Wilkinson MBE, afPE’s CEO and Mike Crichton, afPE’s Chair: “We know that today, June 8th is an important day in UK politics. We would like to assure afPE members and our partners that we will continue to endeavour to work hard to secure a positive outcome for the position of Physical Education (PE), School Sport (SS) and Physical Activity (PA) for all children and young people.” “We have travelled an incredible journey during the last few years and we recognise and acknowledge that PE, SS and PA are critical in delivering key performance indicators in schools in relation to physical heath, emotional well-being, academic achievement and fundamental employment skills for tomorrow’s generation of young people.” “We are proud of the outcomes that we have all achieved to date with government agencies and with national partners as well as the wider sector. We look forward to working with you all again in the near future.” “Yesterday it was privilege to work with schools in Leicestershire who demonstrate the very best workforce commitment to PE, SS and PA that we experience nationally. Our workforce is the most critical and influential element in education, let us celebrate this.”
