afPE Member, Ian Roberts elected as Vice Chair of the English Schools’ Athletic Association

We are delighted to share the news that afPE member, Ian Roberts has been elected as Vice Chair of the English Schools’ Athletic Association (ESSA).

This will be a 4 year role (1 as Vice Chair, 2 as Chair, and then 1 as ex-chair).

Ian’s own links to the sport and association go back all the way to his own experience as an ESAA athlete, elite coach and international team manager on 29 occasions.

On the news of his appointment, Ian Roberts said:

“The ESAA is probably unique in its place as a school sport governing body because it stands independent to the overall NGB, and I am very proud and looking forward to trying to help steer the association through what will certainly be choppy waters.”
