Tender for the Authoring of Safe Practice 2020

01/08/18 The Association for Physical Education (afPE) wishes to commission author/s for the Safe Practice in Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity, 2020 Edition. Sue Wilkinson MBE, afPE’s CEO said: “We are pleased to announce that the tender for the authoring of the 2020 edition of ‘Safe Practice in Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity’ is now open.” “afPE has always put the safety of children and young people at the heart of its work, within the sector. We believe that an informed workforce is critical in ensuring a high quality but safe experience for all. Informing staff and pupils about the hazards and risks, preventing injury through good organisation and educating students about recognising risk and how to work safely, ensures that they can make the right decisions, learn and enjoy activities for the rest of their lives.” “We look forward to receiving applications for the authoring of the 10th edition of the resource from across the sector, for this critical guide that the workforce trust to protect staff and children and young people.”
This tender is open to colleagues across the sector and applications are invited from a subject matter expert author, authors or consortia who can demonstrate the following: - Knowledge, understanding and expertise in Health and Safety, Work Force Management and Education law and Safe-Guarding Children
- Ability to write in a way that clearly and succinctly conveys information to the profession
- Ability to project manage the writing of the manuscript, particularly if you intend to seek input from other authors
Your submission should feature: - Techniques you will use to gain insights from users to inform the structure and tone of the resource
- A detailed proposal of the composition and construction of the Safe Practice Edition, which ensures that Safe Practice remains the most credible and effective health and safety resource for the profession
- Evidence of your experience and skills relative to this project and details of any previous relevant experience
- A detailed project timeline with milestones and risk assessment of the project
- A fully costed proposal including, deliverables, milestones, project management, risk assessment, editing and consultation process
- The synergy between the afPE Health and Safety publication, afPE’s Health and Safety professional learning programme and the implications for the profession
- How you would work with Coachwise/1st4sport Qualifications and afPE to meet the project outcomes (to deliver a high quality Health and Safety resource) which meet the needs of members and the wider PE, School Sport profession both in the UK and in the International Market
You will be expected to submit the final edited copy to our publisher, Coachwise/1st4sport Qualifications by December 2019 ready for publication in April 2020. Failure to meet this deadline will result in a financial penalty. You will also be expected to provide input to, and support for the marketing of the publication. We will be assessing proposals using the following criteria: - Proven ability to fulfil the requirements
- Meet the required purpose with current best-practice and legislation
- Proposal’s required purpose meets with the professions’ needs and behaviours
- Value for money
You will receive significant support whilst you are writing the manuscript. A Coachwise editor will be on hand to clarify any queries which may arise; help you schedule your time; and comment on any specifications/outlines prior to completion.
