DfE Launch Activity Review Consultation for GCSE/AS/A Level Physical Education Qualifications
24 October 2018
24/10/18 The Department for Education (DfE) has launched a consultation on the activity review for GCSE, AS and A Level Physical Education qualifications. In 2014 there was a consultation regarding examinations in Physical Education and the related specifications. The awarding organisations (AOs) proposed a list of activities for assessment based upon 5 key criteria that sports would need to meet ensure for inclusion. These criterions were designed to ensure each activity could be assessed reliably, was of comparable demand and was manageable for schools to assess. The Department consulted on this list as part of the formal consultation process in the summer of that year. Following an analysis of information submitted by stakeholders and evidence gathering by the DfE and in consultation with sector experts, the Department agreed the final list of activities with AOs and Ofqual. The DfE is now undertaking a consultation on the review of the activities on the list. Click HERE to take part in the consultation. The closing date is 20th December 2018. Sue Wilkinson MBE, afPE’s CEO said: "We urge all practitioners in schools, FE and higher education to participate in this consultation so that their views can be heard by the Department." "We would also urge all other partners (including NGBs) within the sector to take part so that there is broad and balanced perspective on the consultation." "The Association will be making an official response on behalf of its members."
