Updated Primary PE and Sport Premium Website Reporting Template
20 November 2019
20/11/19 Updated template to support schools with the reporting of their Primary PE & Sport Premium funding. Maintained schools, including those that convert to academies, MUST publish, on their website, information about their effective and sustainable use of the Primary PE and Sport Premium funding. Following on from the refreshed Primary PE and Sport Premium guidance published by the Department for Education, one of the changes is to the date when schools must report on their spend by. We would also like to remind schools that the reporting deadline is by the end of the summer term or by 31 July 2020 at the latest. Schools must publish the amount of Primary PE and Sport Premium received; a full breakdown of how it has been spent (or will be spent); what impact the school has seen on pupils’ Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity, participation and attainment and how the improvements will be sustainable in the future. Schools must also provide swimming data in relation to their year 6 cohort in 2019/20. The Department for Education initially commissioned the Association for Physical Education and the Youth Sport Trust to create a national template which has now been revised to include the recent changes. Head Teachers, Subject Leaders and Governors will be able to use this simple reporting mechanism to ensure they are grant compliant in demonstrating effective use of the grant to achieve a sustainable impact. Sue Wilkinson MBE, afPE CEO said: “We are delighted that the revised Primary PE and Sport Template has been published today, my huge thanks to the afPE staff in their creative design and application, and to colleagues within afPE, YST and Active Partnerships for their input to shape the new version.” “Purdah has prevented us from promoting the template on social media, but we do hope that you like the inclusion of the Ofsted 3 I’s demonstrating a consistent message and a link in terms of the vision for the spending and the ultimate impact it will have on children and young people. We appreciate, value and support Ofsted in their view that, a ‘School is clear what it wants pupils to know and be able to do and that a school is clear what specific things pupils need to learn and practice to do this and how to build these things up over time.’ We believe that the link between the reporting template and the 3 I’s will help reduce teacher workload, if and when they are called, to discuss Physical Education in an inspection setting.” “We also believe being able to clearly articulate the swimming commitment and attainment will help in collecting rigorous national data regarding pupils who can demonstrate the National Curriculum swimming outcomes by the time that they leave primary school. If you need any advice or support regarding the completion of the template please do not hesitate to contact the afPE office.”
