This Girl Can: New Community Fund Launched
30 January 2020
30/01/20 A new This Girl Can community fund has been launched by Sport England. This fund aims to support women aged 16+ to get active by offering National Lottery grants to local projects that will contribute to overcoming the barriers some women and girls face in getting active: from a lack of opportunities offered in their local area, to cost and availability of childcare. Sport England is looking to support a wide range of ideas – from those that just need a few hundred pounds, to larger projects nearer £10,000. Who’s eligible? Schools or statutory bodies, not-for-profit organisations, voluntary or community clubs, registered charities, community interest companies or social enterprises are welcome to apply. Individuals who’d like funding for a group activity which isn’t for individual gain will also be reviewed. Organisations established to make a profit can get involved provided the project doesn’t realise a distributable profit. What does Sport England want to fund? Activities that get women’s heart rate up, whatever form that may take: from Bollywood dance and walking to boxing and yoga. Decisions on which ideas to support will be based on the difference that can be made with the funding rather than the items or services bought with it. What impact will your project will have? Sport England welcome ideas with a short-term focus as well as those which will provide longer-term support to help women achieve sustainable behaviour change. What are the next steps? Please use the below form to summarise your big idea. The deadline for submissions is 25th February 2020. Sport England will be in touch within 8 weeks of your idea submission and if your idea is successful, you’ll be invited to complete a full funding application form and offered support. Details of what this application form looks like can be found HERE. Click HERE to view the This Girl Can website.
