COVID-19 Information – Government Update 17/03/2020
17 March 2020
17/03/20 afPE’s position is that members follow the guidance from government which is being given on the basis of scientific information. Each response needs to be a whole school decision. Whilst it may seem useful to deep clean physical education areas and equipment this would have minimal impact if others areas with significant equipment such as art, science and food technology do not do the same. Such decisions need to be at whole school level and afPE members should not think of PE as a separate entity and are reminded to ensure they follow any guidance which is being updated virtually daily. The DfE updated their advice to educational Settings yesterday and have FAQ’s. This advice is on the DfE home page. If members scroll half way down, there is a Coronavirus image to click on. https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response Education settings can help reduce the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) by reminding everyone of the public health advice. Staff, children, pupils, students and families should be reminded to wash their hands for 20 seconds more frequently than normal. Frequently clean and disinfect objects and surfaces that are touched regularly, using your standard cleaning products. Posters, leaflets and other materials are available. https://campaignresources.phe.gov.uk/resources/campaigns/101/resources/5016
