COVID-19 Information – Schools to close from Friday

18/03/20 In a statement by Education Secretary, Gavin Williamson, schools will close from closing time on Friday to most pupils’ until further notice. “Schools will close except for those of key workers and where children who are most vulnerable. Examples of these key workers include NHS staff, police and delivery drivers who need to be able to go to work. Vulnerable children include those have a social worker and those who have educational, health or care plans”. He also expects “early years providers, sixth forms and further education colleges to do the same”. “I would encourage independent schools and boarding schools [to] follow the same approach.” “Ofsted has ceased all routine inspections of early years, schools, colleges and children’s social care services.” Also “assessments or exams, and will not be publishing performance tables for this academic year”.
