Physical Education – Advice for schools that are still open
23 March 2020
23/03/20 The main advice that we can give at this time is to follow government guidelines. Staff should select low risk activities, in order to minimise accidents requiring hospital admission, and choose appropriate activities where social distance can be achieved. It doesn’t have to be formal PE. We need to be adaptable during these unprecedented times. The statement from the Department for Education is that schools should continue to provide care for a limited number of children. The key information for school staff from all government departments can be found at www.gov.uk/coronavirus The simple message is each school needs to make a decision on the activities they offer during the school day. When being physically active, as with all other activities participants should have minimal social contact and practise good hygiene. In addition to the link above, you can access Government guidance for schools and other educational settings HERE.
