03/09/20

This new COVID-19 update covers the topics of Curriculum School Swimming, Examination PE & Transport.

Sue Wilkinson MBE, afPE’s CEO said:

afPE is in awe of the creative ways that the workforce have designed their physical education curriculum, in order to ensure that all children and young people feel safe, can enjoy and benefit physically and emotionally PE lessons. The landscape as we know, is extremely difficult to navigate in such unprecedented times. As an association, part of our role is to ensure that the workforce and Children & Young People are kept safe and well. We believe that the more information colleagues have; the better informed they are to make the right choices. So following extensive consultation we have produced a statement regarding the latest DfE guidance published at the end of August.”

“The Association is extremely fortunate to have a knowledgeable and committed Health and Safety team (Steve Caldecott, Nicky Scott and Jan Hickman) who work tirelessly to translate guidance so that we can keep our advice up to date and accurate. My thanks also to Eileen Marchant who ensures that we are clear in our messaging to colleagues. We do hope that you find the latest statement helpful in these challenging times.
