afPE’s CEO features in the new ‘YSF Podcast’
22 September 2020
22/09/20 Episode eight of The YSF Podcast, released today, includes a conversation with Sue Wilkinson MBE, CEO of the Association for Physical Education. With many pupils returning to school in September for the first time in six months, Sue makes the case for why physical education should be a cornerstone in a broad and balanced curriculum that supports children’s physical, social and emotional wellbeing. “We know schools are under tremendous pressure to catch up in other academic areas,” says Sue, “but if children are not emotionally well, physically well – they’re not going to be able to engage in that.” “We need to re-socialise and re-integrate children and young people, and we can do that through PE.” Also featured within the podcast is Steve Caldecott, Lead H&S Officer at afPE, who helps to myth-bust some common misconceptions around the guidance relating to PE and school sport. The YSF PE and School Sport team also feature, with updates on the Primary PE and School Sport Premium; PE conferences for 2020, and pay thanks to those involved in #ThisIsPE.
