afPE Statement: Using School PE and Sport Facilities for Covid-19 Testing

afPE’s statement regarding the use of PE and sport facilities for Covid-19 testing.

The location will be one of the considerations for testing to take place in a school/college and a specific risk assessment will need be completed prior to making a decision. The need to maintain the control systems and adhere to social distancing means the sports hall or assembly hall are likely to be deemed the best location to manage the testing on the school site.

It is a school decision but where possible, afPE promotes the use of indoor areas designated for physical activity to be preserved for the benefit of students to access quality physical education provision.
