To support the teaching workforce, afPE’s Health & Safety Team has produced a free update on providing remote education. Download it HERE.

Sue Wilkinson MBE, afPE’s CEO said:

As the school workforce continues to manage exponential change and the challenges of Covid-19; we are delighted to have partnered with Oak Academy to create resources to support the teaching of physical education to primary age children. Now more than ever we know that physical education is even more important to support children’s emotional, social and physical wellbeing. Remote learning is a solution to help to continue national curriculum education for all children and young people who cannot be taught in schools.

We believe that the PE video resources will help children experience high quality education through the physical domain, whilst giving teachers the opportunity to adapt and modify the resources to be appropriate for their children.  The curriculum maps will enable the school workforce to see at a glance an over view of the units of work and all the related paper work is downloadable and editable with no copyright restrictions.

The value of physical education is key to enabling children and young people to develop cognitively as well as physically, socially and emotionally. PE, as a transitory subject,  is normally taught face to face but the necessity to move to on line and remote learning, has been taken on board by the afPE authors, quality assurance team, the project manager and Oak Academy, for which we are extremely grateful. We are proud that the materials are quality assured and have been through a thorough health and safety risk assessment in line with the Government’s guidance and afPE Safe Practice recommendations. We know that the school workforce is creative and innovative and will adapt and modify the resources to meet their needs. More activities will be available in the next two weeks.
