The afPE Taskforce is carrying out a ‘test and learn’ pilot project to determine the position of physical education in schools and whether or not it can achieve a core status.
afPE would like to invite expressions of interest (EOI) from researchers with an interest in physical education (PE) and preferably who have an understanding of the subject in schools to undertake an evaluation of the pilot. Please state your afPE membership number on your EOI.
We would like to understand the type of methodology you would use to measure the success of the base line data information to determine what is core and the impact on whole school improvement. We would expect you to work with the national team to negotiate the methodology and review how best to inform the project moving forward. We would expect the initial consultation to take part in mid January with an initial report to be submitted at the end of July 2022. Initially the first phase of funding available is £6k and maybe of interest to practising teachers undertaking a research project as part of a Masters programme in physical education.
If any party is interested please do not hesitate to contact Sue Wilkinson on sue.wilkinson@afpe.org.uk, to discuss the project and long term outcomes. This is an exciting time for physical education and we welcome expressions from members.
Closing date for expressions of interest is 12.00pm on Monday 17th January 2022.
