SLQ Sports Leaders: Recruitment of schools for DfE funded girls leadership & competitive sport

SLQ Sports Leaders is pleased to announce the development of a new innovative accredited programme to provide ‘competitive school sport’ and sports leadership opportunities for girls. The programme aims to increase the opportunities for girls to lead competitive sport sessions/activities (Your Time to Lead) for other girls to participate in (Your Time to Compete).

Your Time to Learn

SLQ Sports Leaders has developed an online, accredited learning programme consisting of six modules that will support female leaders (14 years and over) to:

• understand existing barriers to participation for girls
• identify what their female peers recognise as engaging competitive sport opportunities
• lead an event or competition to provide those opportunities for female participants

School Engagement

SLQ is recruiting 75 schools to be a part of this free-to-access three-year programme, the school is required to engage 6-10 female leaders to deliver competitive sport opportunities for a minimum of 25 girls, with the aim to create a lasting impact on participation in competitive sport opportunities in their school. Delivery of the programme must happen throughout the spring and start of summer term.
