To continue to support our members and the PESSPA sector, the Association for Physical Education is scheduling regular webinars covering a wide range of diverse and topical subject areas. These will be specifically available for afPE members, although some will be open to the public.
The next members’ webinar that we have scheduled is ‘Creating Active Schools: Cultural Change to Embed Physical Activity Across Your Whole-School‘:
- Title: Creating Active Schools: Cultural Change to Embed Physical Activity Across Your Whole-School
- Date & Time: Thursday 15th September from 16:00 to 17:00
- Delivered by: Dr Andy Daly-Smith
- Description: Dr Andy Daly-Smith is a Reader in Healthy Childhood at the University of Bradford and the strategic academic lead for the Creating Active Schools (CAS) programme. Over the last year, CAS has supported 20 localities and over 170 schools across England to create whole-school approaches to physical activity.
Drawing on learning from the Sport England funded Bradford Local delivery pilot (JUMP) and the national roll out for CAS, this presentation will give attendees ideas on leading cultural change for physical activity within their schools and localities. While CAS is currently focused on primary schools, many of the messages are transferable to the secondary setting. The webinar will close with a view of what the next steps are for CAS and how your school or locality can get involved in the future.
