The cover provided through afPE, supplements and, in most cases, may well enhance any cover held through schools or Local Authorities. Most Public Liability policies do not provide any cover for Professional Indemnity (injury resulting from coaching/instruction)
which is included with the afPE cover as standard.
Our Comprehensive Cover Includes
Combined Liability Insurance: Protects all afPE members if they are held responsible for causing an injury to someone else or damage to someone's property
Personal Accident Insurance: Provides benefits to afPE members if they are injured whilst undertaking the recognised/authorised activities of the Association
Legal Helpline: Gives all members access to
a free confidential 24 hour a day legal helpline to advise on a number of issues such as personal and commercial legal advice

2023/2024 Insurance Options
The options for afPE members are as follows:
Option 1: Included as standard within the membership fee for individual full members
Option 2: £60 (Members working for a single school/establishment/agency
but who also undertake some additional freelance work up to the value of £5,000 total income per year)
Option 3: (see below):
Members working on a totally freelance basis, such as consultants, with an annual turnover
of:
- Up to £50,000 - £100 (Option 3a)
- Between £50,001 and £99,999 - £340 (Option 3b)
- Between £100,000 and £149,999 - £370 (Option 3c)
The costs outlined above are in addition to the individual membership fee, which
is currently £125 for a full member.

Combined Liability
All individuals who take part in sport and recreation, either through coaching, teaching, participation, education (including consultancy work) or administration have a Duty of Care to ensure they do not cause personal injury, financial loss, or damage
to property.
If their actions do cause injury, loss or damage and “negligence” can be proved, they become legally liable to pay compensation.
Combined Liability is the generic title for a single insurance policy that
embraces the following classes of liability insurance:
- Public Liability - £10,000,000 any one occurrence
- Professional indemnity - £10,000,000 any one occurrence
- Libel and slander - £10,000,000 any one occurrence
Personal Accident Benefits
All registered members of afPE automatically receive personal accident benefits if they are injured whilst participating in authorised and recognised activities of afPE.
Cover provides ‘non-fault’ compensation for members up to the age
of 80 years.
Legal Helpline
All members receive access to a 24 hour a day legal helpline to provide free, confidential, legal advice over the phone on any commercial or personal legal problem.
