afPE is delighted to present this professional development piece which helps teachers to develop the subject knowledge and confidence to teach safe and inspiring gymnastics in the primary school

How long does it take:

The delivery of this module (the course) is split as follows:

  1. Pre-course tasks, which take approximately an hour
  2. A one hour webinar which includes discussing the outcomes from the pre course tasks and addressing aspects of gymnastics teaching in the primary school.
  3. A practical day (six hours) in a primary school setting where there is access to fixed and portable gymnastics apparatus.

Who is it for:

Primary staff with QTS, PE subject leaders. HLTA’s and TA’s and sports coaches who contribute to teacher up-skilling

Delegates will;

  • develop their knowledge of health and safety principles in primary school gymnastic activity including moving and using large apparatus
  • understand how to plan effectively to develop pupils' learning through gymnastics
  • be more knowledgeable about teaching gymnastics skills in a safe progressive and inclusive way
