Overview:
ASL are those people who do not hold a recognised teaching qualification (although they may hold other relevant qualifications) but, with the permission of the head teacher and governors, contribute to the delivery of physical education and school sport in a variety of ways.
This Pack Will:
- Highlight the value of Adults Supporting Learning (ASL) who assist in physical education and school sport;
- Provide guidance and offer support material for teachers, head teachers and governors when inducting ASL into the school environment and ethos;
- Remind schools that they have a responsibility to both young people and ASL;
- Assist schools in increasing the effectiveness of ASL contribution to physical education and school sport;
- Remind schools that it is their responsibility to provide support and guidance for the ASL in the wider educational context;
- Support teachers working with ASL;
- Help new ASL understand and carry out their roles in the education process;
- Assist teachers in encouraging ASL to move forward and progress;
- Provide information that can support the development of ASL.
