Strictly Physical Education – Learning to Move, Moving to Learn Primary conference
The conference will focus on the important contribution that physical education makes to children's enjoyment and sense of self-worth. It will also raise awareness about the crucial role it plays in helping them to develop physically, emotionally and socially leading to healthy and fulfilling lifestyles.
The keynote address will out line the progress made to date with the primary curriculum review. Although the primary review of the curriculum will not be fully completed this conference will give delegates an insight into how it might look and how we should start to change our current practice. There will be time allocated during the day to ask questions and to contribute to discussion about the new curriculum.
There will also be opportunities for delegates to attend workshops which explore physical and creative development and show how these support children in their personal development and well-being.
The conference will take place on Tuesday, 7th July 2009 at Aston Hall Hotel, Sheffield.

afPE/Edge Hill University working in partnership to offer you accreditation
As you may be aware we have established a partnership with Edge Hill University to enable serving teachers to gain postgraduate accreditation for their attendance on various training courses run by afPE through the NCfCPD.
This provides further recognition of the value of afPE CPD, both to the individual and to the school, and provides opportunities for participants to demonstrate the positive impact that the CPD has on their professional practice. This is critical to PESS professionals as part of their performance management and to proceed up the career pathway and achieve specific criterion within the Teachers’ Professional Standards Framework.
For each course provided by afPE and accredited by Edge Hill University, Edge Hill tutors will provide support and guidance in completing the assignments that lead to accreditation and this can be arranged online or face-to-face. Each delegate will be provided with a module booklet which outlines the nature of the assignment and how it can be completed making best use of the work they are be doing as part of their professional practice.
Assessment will be carried out by Edge Hill tutors, who will give constructive feedback on every piece of work submitted as part of the programme. Delegates access a masters course for as little as £500.00 which is extremely competitive.
The registration process is fairly simple (we hope!). Within each NCfCPD delegate bag there will be a flyer outlining the partnership between afPE and Edge Hill and how the accreditation process will work along with a registration form. This form is purely for delegates to register an interest with Edge Hill and does not commit them to anything. Delegates can either complete the form and hand it to the tutor during their course or they can send it back to me directly. Helen Chadwick will collate all the registration forms and send them to our contact at Edge Hill. Edge Hill will then write to each delegate and provide them with a guidance booklet. If the delegate then chooses to start the process they liaise directly with Edge Hill.
